Your website is a work of art and you’ve spent time and energy to get it to look the way it does. It looks pretty and makes you feel fuzzy inside every time you look at it. You’re so inspired by it that you’re sending all your paid traffic from Google Ads to your home page. Here’s the problem, your home page is killing your ad campaign. Big time. Let me explain.
You see, Google Ads works like this. Every time someone clicks on your ad on the search engine results page (SERP) it charges you money. In other words, you lose money every time someone clicks on your ad. This might sound simplistic but please understand this point because its crucial. Every click on your ad is a cost to you and a gain for Google.
So with that being said, it is therefore of utmost importance that you make sure that every click counts. How do you make every click count? By making sure that every prospect who clicks on your ad leaves an inquiry (this would be called a conversion). No inquiries equals no bookings. No bookings equals no business. Period!
Now back to your website and your homepage. Your homepage is not the best place to send paid traffic to because it’s not optimized for conversions. That is to say, its not designed to make it easy for prospects to make inquiries. How do I know this?
Most wedding photography website homepages don’t have contact forms, have too many buttons and links that take people all over the show and have a navigational section that distracts visitors from the main thing (which is to leave an inquiry).
If you’re paying Google for traffic then you shouldn’t be wasting time trying to woo your visitors with never ending galleries. Get them to make an inquiry then you can woo them with your personality. Once again. No inquiry equals no bookings. No bookings equals no business.
What you need to have is a dedicated landing page that is purely designed and optimized to make it easy for prospects to leave an inquiry. This page must have a clear and specific call to action. Please watch the video below as I’ll be going into more detail and showing examples of great landing pages.
